Skincare4Shelters is a project designed to address the often-overlooked issue of skincare and wellness among homeless women. With approximately 38% of the 580,000 homeless individuals in America being women, many experience compounded challenges including domestic violence, mental health issues, and exclusion from healthcare services. This project focuses on the connection between skincare, personal hygiene, and mental health, recognizing that lack of access to basic skincare products can lead to physical health issues and contribute to feelings of low self-worth. In collaboration with GirlsWhoSTEAM and The INKEY List, Skincare4Shelters aims to distribute personalized skincare kits to homeless women in shelters, starting with a pilot program at Homeless Solutions in Morristown. Through surveys and qualitative data collection, the project seeks to measure the positive impact of skincare on the mental and physical well-being of homeless women and expand this initiative across the tri-state area.
